From strangers to friends (part 4)

Image
I geared up for the final day in Kerala eagerly and enjoyed a healthy breakfast with puttu and banana. When it was finally time to leave the houseboat, I took pictures to remember the one-of-a-kind experience. Soon after, we started the next journey while playing our favorite songs and singing in unison.  After some time, we jumped into party games like ' Have you ever ' and revealed our forbidden love stories. The fun times lasted until we reached the restaurant for our lunch. The waiting time for the table was longer than usual since it was Onam, compelling us to check the nearby shops. I refuelled my energy with a glass of fruit juice and was pulled in by the assortment of goodies in the bakery. There were my ever-favorite banana chips and potato chips in various flavors. I also decided to grab some jackfruit chips and Kerala's popular chai-time snack called ' vettu cake ' for family. When we returned to the restaurant, we got to enjoy an extravagant lunch an...

From strangers to friends (part 3)

He was over the moon on hearing that he was my crush. We started stealing glances secretly and being anywhere near him gave me butterflies. Even though we planned to have lunch together like other campus couples, his friends never left him alone!  And like that, we did not even get a chance to talk in person. Still, I was on cloud nine whenever we talked over the phone. One day, I was taking a walk and messaging him that I was stressed. Strangely, I felt he was being evasive and indifferent about my worries. When I pried him on what bothered him, he admitted having a liking for a girl since he was young. At first, I was perturbed that he brought this up. But still, I tried to understand his feelings for the girl, which were never reciprocated.  Although I was feeling crushed inside, I thanked him for letting me know his heart. Days went by and my college life felt like a rollercoaster ride. This was the story that I shared with everyone on the trip. But, there was more t...

From strangers to friends (part 2)

Walking into one of the rooms made me feel like we were in a deluxe room at a scenic resort. As the houseboat stopped at various corners of the backwaters, we got down to take a stroll. Though it was raining a bit, it was not pouring hard. So I soaked up the gentle breeze, which made the brisk weather even more alluring.. The main event of the day was the speedboat ride, which surprised us with sudden turns and made us laugh in glee. We had to take the ride twice, just to get completely drenched by the water splashing from every side!! Shortly afterwards, we got ready to celebrate Onam Eve in traditional attire. I was dressed in a glam white sari and completed the look with smoky eye makeup. When we took pictures to commemorate this soirΓ©e, the heavenly glow of the setting sun and golden yellow lights from the boat became our backdrop! Once I returned to the room, the ever-changing views of the backwaters and the gentle seesaw of the boat lulled me to sleep. As I woke up hungry...

Have you watched VTV? ' Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa ' was a trendsetter of the year 2010 that was dominated by rom-com movies like 'Mynaa' and 'Madrasapattinam'. I am pretty sure most of us have watched VTV once, if not more times! When I watched the movie in the theater with my mom, I was 17. One thing I noticed throughout the film was that it was the story of Karthik . In his narrative, Jessi was his unrequited love, and the villain of his love story was Jessi's family.  If you asked me how the story would have panned out from Jessi's POV, things might look a little different. Karthik might have been just a passing cloud or someone out of her hands. Having said that, the villain of Jessi's story could have been her family, her fiancΓ©, or even herself... Does she regret meeting Karthik? Maybe ... Does she regret not leaving with him and living the life of her choice? Maybe ... It is amusing how the story changes when the person narrating it ch...

My first adult trip to Goa πŸ”ž

Guess why the year 2023 was super-special for me? I was turning 30 and I wanted to make unforgettable memories the whole year. When it was my birthday, I took my mom to a five-star hotel and the bill surely made it hard to forget! “Sexy thirty”, as I would like to call it, is a refreshing restart of adulthood. It is the age at which you feel old enough to do what you want and do it without the help of others. That’s why I decided to strike off something from my bucket list, which has been there for a while. By the end of the year, I was planning to visit Goa and party till dawn. 😎🎢 Found a solo travel group —check Packed all the cool and comfy dresses —check Finish everything that is needed before I become unreachable—check All that was left was to board the train to the land of many dreams. “Have you packed everything you need?”, grilled my mom. “I will know if I missed something after I reach”, I smirked. Thus, our journey started with a lot of giggles and gossip. πŸ’• Whe...

A pleasant journey to Munnar

Image
A Nilgiri Tahr          As the COVID restrictions turned us into hermits, I had been longing to go on a long road trip. Ergo, I planned a trip to Munnar for three days and two nights. I had booked a small cottage for the first night’s stay and a tree house for the other day. It was a gleeful journey, as we were travelling as a group of four ladies. It was a memorable trip, which gave us many new experiences.   Day 1 :        We had rented a nice car that was suitable for the hilly ride. We chattered about ghosts and such scary encounters with the driver, which kept us excited. Then, we had a delectable  South Indian breakfast in an authentic mess along the way. We commenced our four-hour drive to ‘the land of wild langurs and elephants’. On reaching the town, our first stop was  the Karimutty Waterfalls with a small Eco shop and tea stall. We picked out some souvenirs and sipped some delicious tea while admiring the falls. ...
