A pleasant journey to Munnar

Image
A Nilgiri Tahr          As the COVID restrictions turned us into hermits, I had been longing to go on a long road trip. Ergo, I planned a trip to Munnar for three days and two nights. I had booked a small cottage for the first night’s stay and a tree house for the other day. It was a gleeful journey, as we were travelling as a group of four ladies. It was a memorable trip, which gave us many new experiences.   Day 1 :        We had rented a nice car that was suitable for the hilly ride. We chattered about ghosts and such scary encounters with the driver, which kept us excited. Then, we had a delectable  South Indian breakfast in an authentic mess along the way. We commenced our four-hour drive to ‘the land of wild langurs and elephants’. On reaching the town, our first stop was  the Karimutty Waterfalls with a small Eco shop and tea stall. We picked out some souvenirs and sipped some delicious tea while admiring the falls. ...

Boarding schools - a review

In the post pandemic era, the boarding schools are up and running after a long hiatus. While the ministry of education is striving to bring normalcy and a better educational system, recent deaths in boarding schools across the country are agonizing the parents. The number of students committing suicide and lost due to negligence is alarming.  The boarding schools should have a valid license for running a hostel. Though the boarding schools are evidently focused on infrastructure and academics , we often overlook the safety and pastoral care, which should be imbibed in the school's policies. Safety is not only security from external threats but also internal threats like teachers or staffs who mishandle students and situations.  If only had the boarding school in Ponneri responded attentively to the student's health, a 17 year old would now be alive. The student had suffered from food poisoning after having the hostel's food and was only given first aid in an inhouse faci...

India, an incomplete democracy

Image
The news channels, in recent times, have been so disappointing due to two reasons : the various reports of national unrest and the way the channels treat the news as a pathway to publicity. The truth is altered according to one's own opinion and served as a communal propaganda on social and digital media. The recent row over wearing hijab and the infamous dispute over gyanvapi mosque have garnered varied opinions, among various sects of people.  The comments, made by the judges, on Mrs.Sharma's case depict the patriarchal mindset that women are responsible for everything. If one's remarks were the cause of national unrest, we should be concerned what is the role of the government and its bodies in maintaining peace in the country. In a country where even criminals are conferred all the human rights , it is against the law to deny the plea of someone based on personal opinions. The court asking a woman to apologise and blaming them before a legal trial seems outrageous. ...

Are men safe?

Image
The recent times have seen an uprising support for men who suffer from violent and abusive partners. Whether it is  Johnny Depp  who won a defamation case against his wife or people slamming the abuse of #metoo movement , the public are well informed about the sexist attack on men in general. The people who were on the quick-foot to judge the allegations on Johnny Depp are slowly opening up to the idea of men being harassed.  We must admit men can be sexually harassed too. I myself have heard from men that have been sexually harassed during their growing years. Reports claim that about 1 in every six men are targets of sexual abuse in their lifetimes.  Many men may not be even able to express their agony fearing the shame in the society. Men are expected to be strong and not whine about anything.   Gender-based violence affects 52.4 percent of married men, according to a survey of 1000 married men in rural Haryana. About 51.5 percent...

Why Tsundere are the most misunderstood 'deres' in reality

Image
One can classify the characters we see in anime and manga as 'deres'. There are some common personality types that we see -  tsundere, yandere, kuudere, yangire and dandere  . Tsundere : They look cold and mean outside , but soft and sweet inside Yandere : They are gentle and loving at first but end up being obsessive and possessive on their loved ones Kuudere : They often look unemotional and undisturbed by anything , but can be jovial and loving  Yangire : Yangire are just like Yandere but not motivated by love. They are cute but psycho and can be potentially dangerous! Deredere : They are quiet and shy, revealing their gentle and confident side only to the right person Even though Tsunderes look so charming in stories, people with such character are often misunderstood in real life 😪. Lets have a look on the character aspects of a typical 'tsundere' and what people think of them. Being quiet : People think they have attitude problem and dont like other people...
