Sunshine after the rain

I am waiting for the sunshine . Yes, I am waiting for the sun which shines bright after the rain! Good times or bad times, they are not going to last forever. I see a ray of hope - a ray of hope amidst the prevailing darkness.

I may not be following the daily news or intently scanning the newspaper for daily updates. Though, when I manage to catch a glimpse of the current news, I look for the sunshine behind the clouds. I see the humanity of people who are willing to help each other in these difficult times. I hear the songs sung on the invisible virus day to day, in order to make the public aware of the existing dangers and the prevention.

Even the countries are helping each other to recover from the pandemic. India sent about 15 tonnes of medical assistance comprising masks, gloves and emergency medical equipment to China and helped the country overcome the crucial times.Germany took in COVID-19 patients from Italy and France and also offered them ICU hospital beds.

There are some heartwarming instances, which happened to showcase our humanity. Kids are donating money from their piggy banks for helping the nation. The police officials are doing everything from giving disciplinary punishments to begging people to stop them from coming out of their houses. One couple from East Yorkshire chose to divert all of their catering to more than 400 hospital workers, when the reception was called off due to social distancing.

The roads which have always looked over embellished with the vehicle lights look wide and spacious. The shops which were open all day and night have been shut and even the people who ran after those tangible things have come to a halt. People who found solace in the company of a group of people have learnt to enjoy the solitary confinement!

Due to less human interference, the animals and birds are roaming peacefully in the streets. The water resources have become clearer than before and the harmful nitrogen dioxide levels have dropped drastically around the world.  Peacocks and pigeons are taking over the empty roads! The quality of air has improved due to the lack of traffic.

The life seems easier and less complicated , as we take a break to enjoy the little things and stop stressing over our preoccupied lives. Enjoying the coffee or playing around with children becomes our happiness of the day! We have the time to try out recipes we always wanted to, paint on the walls or watch one movie a day. We can leisurely connect with our friends online or even challenge them to complete a dare.

Some professionals are taking online classes to teach what they know to overcome the boredom and make use of the time in a meaningful way. We have proved that we can still be of use by thinking about others and doing something useful or at the least by simply staying at home. We could never have imagined that we can save the world by staying at home !
